Indians May Soon Be Issued E-Passports
Chip enabled e-passports with high security features may soon be rolled out as government has started preparation for introducing it.About 100 countries now use digital passports with chips that include biometric details of people.It's saying that a digital passport is the combination of paper and eletronic technology.
in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said the government has given approval for procurement of electronic contactless inlays for manufacturing of e-passports.
The personal particulars of the applicants would be digitally signed and stored in the chip.They contain identification details in the printed form on the paper and in the chips.
